About
Alitheon is an AI and computer vision company that has developed FeaturePrint, a patented optical-AI technology that identifies, authenticates, and traces physical objects using their inherent microscopic surface features. Like a fingerprint for physical items, FeaturePrint requires no labels, barcodes, tags, or chips, and works with a standard camera, including a mobile phone. The technology captures the natural texture, grain, and micro-variations present in every manufactured object and converts them into a compact digital identity of less than 500KB. At any point in the supply chain, another photo can be taken to match the item with greater than 99.9% accuracy and zero false positives. FeaturePrint requires no training data and is object-agnostic, working out of the box. The technology serves high-consequence industries including luxury goods and collectibles (anti-counterfeiting and provenance verification), healthcare (securing the medical supply chain against counterfeit drugs and devices), automotive and aerospace (component authentication and traceability), government and military (inventory management and fraud prevention), and electronics and datacenters. Alitheon holds 55+ issued patents, all developed in-house with no reliance on university research or third-party algorithms. Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, the company has raised approximately $40.9 million in Series A funding. Investors include BMW i Ventures, Fidelity Investments, Boeing, Shasta Ventures, Emerald Technology Ventures, eBay Ventures, and IPD Capital.
