About

Altris develops sustainable sodium-ion battery technology as the European sodium-ion standard, producing battery cells, cathode materials, and factory blueprints using conflict-free minerals including iron, salt, wood, and air with no cobalt, nickel, or dependence on conflict minerals or single-source geographies. The company offers two cell products: P-Series, a high-rate sodium-ion cell available in 1-50 Ah capacities with 110-130 Wh/kg energy density; and E-Series, an endurance cell available in 50-300 Ah capacities with above 160 Wh/kg energy density and over 8,000 cycles. Altris also produces Prussian White CAM, the cathode active material that makes sodium-ion commercially viable, manufactured through a patented process ensuring continuous output of high-quality material. The company serves multiple verticals including automotive as a drop-in lead-acid replacement validated for 12V-48V systems, grid and stationary storage for long-duration applications, defence for minus 40 degrees Celsius deployment with cold start and 0V storage capabilities and Class 9 Exempt logistics, and data centers for ride-through power on AI-scale load profiles. Altris operates an industrial pilot plant in Uppsala that produces industrial reference cells transferable to partner manufacturing lines, with a fully European supply chain from material refining through OEM partnerships. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Uppsala, Sweden, Altris has raised approximately $41 million at the Series B stage from investors including Clarios, Maersk, Molindo, EIT InnoEnergy, Northvolt, Swedish Energy Agency, Lansforsakringar, Europa, and Uppsala Innovation Centre.
