About

ATMOS Space Cargo builds reusable spacecraft and return logistics that turn spaceflight into circular infrastructure, providing Europe with end-to-end mission operations from contract to recovery. The company's flagship product is the PHOENIX orbital transfer and return vehicle (OTRV), which enables routine access to low Earth orbit (LEO), autonomous orbital missions, controlled re-entry, and rapid payload recovery on standardized mission cycles. The full mission workflow spans six phases: contract and mission definition, payload integration and qualification (AIT), logistics and launcher integration, in-orbit operations and mission control, data downlink and monitoring, and controlled re-entry and recovery. ATMOS focuses on affordable, regular, and reliable return transport, particularly for life science applications including monoclonal antibodies, stem cells, organoids, and protein crystallization, addressing challenges related cost, lead times, repeatability, and reliability in space cargo logistics. The company has received Europe's first commercial re-entry license from Portugal for return to the Azores, with PHOENIX 2 as the first of seven missions scheduled to launch in 2026. Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Rheinmünster (Lichtenau), Germany, with offices in Strasbourg, France, ATMOS Space Cargo has raised approximately $48.2 million in a Series A round backed by the European Innovation Council, Amadeus Capital Partners, Seraphim, OTB Ventures, HTGF, E2MC, VENTIS, MBG Baden-Württemberg, APEX Ventures, Start-up BW, Expansion, Europa, Shift, Match VC, Balnord, and another.vc.
