Blue Planet Systems is a provider of carbon capture and sequestration solutions that permanently mineralize CO2 into valuable building materials. The company patented mineralization technology can use dilute CO2 from any source at any concentration, converting it into synthetic limestone aggregate for concrete production. Each tonne of aggregate permanently mineralizes 440 kg of CO2, preventing it from leaking or accumulating in the atmosphere. The technology produces aggregate equivalent in strength, performance, and cost to standard quarried aggregates, enabling carbon-negative concrete. Blue Planet has demonstrated the world first net zero embodied carbon concrete slab placement. The company estimates that replacing 16% of global aggregate with its product could achieve the CO2 storage needed by 2050 to keep temperature rise below 1.5 degrees Celsius. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Los Gatos, California, Blue Planet Systems has raised approximately 7.4 million in a Series C round with investors including Chevron Technology Ventures, Knife River, and Holcim.
