About

Brilliant Labs develops an open-source AR glasses platform called Halo, designed for the curious and creative, featuring a color microOLED display, ultra-compact bone conduction speakers, optical grade lenses with anti-reflective coating (with prescription and sunglass lens options), an extreme low-power Alif B1 processor with Cortex-M55 CPU and NPU for on-device AI, ultra-low-power optical sensors for AI inference, dual microphones with audio activity detection, a 6-axis IMU with tap detection, Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, and 14-hour all-day battery life. Both hardware and software are fully open source. The glasses run ZephyrOS with a Lua interface, a cross-platform mobile app, and a cloud-based AI agent called Noa that handles real-time, multimodal conversations about anything the user sees, hears, or imagines. Noa can remember what it saw, heard, and said to become increasingly personal over time and enhance the user's memory. Brilliant Labs previously offered the Monocle, an AR device for hackers with programming resources and firmware updates. The company differentiates itself as the only fully open-source AR glasses platform, enabling developers and hackers to modify both hardware and software, in contrast to closed proprietary AR ecosystems. Halo demonstrates practical AI-assisted AR use cases including real-time object recognition, gardening advice, cooking assistance, boxing coaching, and contextual information queries. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Singapore, Brilliant Labs has raised $6 million in a Seed round backed by the Wayfarer Foundation, Coho, Plug and Play Tech Center, Moveon, and 1337 Ventures.
