About

Cellevate develops nanofiber-based cell culture products for upstream bioprocessing through its proprietary Cellevat3d technology platform, offering highly versatile and customizable solutions scalable from R&D to commercial production for cell and gene therapy and novel vaccine manufacturing. The Cellevat3d product line includes nanofiber microcarriers for viral vaccine production delivering over 10-fold higher yields compared to current processes, microcarriers for lentiviral vector production, and microcarriers for AAV production, with pipeline products including iPSC nanofiber microcarriers and nanofiber macrocarriers. The technology is based on cellulose, a green, biodegradable, and sustainable raw material that significantly reduces environmental impact, minimizes carbon footprint and waste, and reduces the use of microplastics. Cellevat3d products promote formation of cell-dense spheroids enabling high cell density cultures in bioreactors, deliver ease of use with consistent cell growth across different bioreactor scales from cell culture flasks to large stirred tank bioreactors, and achieve up to 85% reduction in cost of biotherapies production through unmatched virus titers, reduced waste and water use, and faster bioprocessing time. The company is ISO 9001:2015 certified with GMP processes implemented in clean room production, and collaborates globally with CDMOs and biopharmaceutical companies. Founded in 2014 as a spin-out of Lund University and headquartered in Lund, Sweden, Cellevate has raised approximately $7.1 million at the Seed stage from investors including Industrifonden, Europa, Onsight Ventures, EIC Fund, and Smile Incubator.
