Climax Foods, now operating as Bettani Farms, is a plant-based food company that develops dairy-free cheese products using its patented Caseed protein technology. Caseed is a plant-based protein that mimics the taste, melt, and stretch of dairy casein without the allergens or carbon footprint, naturally derived from the seeds of regenerative crops. The company produces Greek-style feta and mozzarella-style cheeses that deliver 80% to 100% of the protein content of dairy cheese while providing the same taste, texture, melt, and stretch. Bettani Farms has also acquired three plant-based food brands: Stockeld Dreamery (fermented protein cream cheeses used by iconic NYC and Philadelphia bagel shops), NUMU (protein-infused dairy-free mozzarella used by leading retailer pizza bars and NYC pizzerias), and Hungry Planet (plant protein range for various meal applications). The company targets foodservice operators, distributors, CPG manufacturers, and retailers. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Berkeley, California, the company has raised approximately $28 million in seed funding from investors including Climate Capital, Manta Ray Ventures, Valor Equity Partners, Prelude Ventures, Artis Ventures, Index Ventures, S2G Investments, Bel Group, At One Ventures, and Global Founders Capital.
