About

Deep Sky builds, owns, and operates infrastructure for carbon dioxide removal (CDR) and geologic storage as the world's first technology-agnostic carbon removal project developer. The company takes a unique platform approach by deploying multiple direct air capture (DAC) technologies in parallel at shared facilities, rather than betting on a single technology, thereby minimizing risk and accelerating industry growth through comparative benchmarking. Deep Sky Alpha, the company's first facility in Innisfail, Alberta, began operations in August 2025 as the first facility to simultaneously deploy multiple DAC technologies, collecting operational data year-round in Canada's climate with standardized instrumentation and proprietary software for performance tracking and benchmarking. The company secures key resources including land, power, government support, DAC technology partnerships, and geologic storage, offering carbon removal credits validated and issued on carbon registries with 100% traceability of CO2 molecules and permanent geologic storage. Deep Sky differentiates itself through four key advantages: quality (direct atmospheric removal with permanent geologic storage and full traceability), affordability (parallelizing cost-down across multiple technologies to engineer the lowest price), certainty (lowest delivery risk with vertically integrated projects across capture, storage, and power), and tech diversity (a technology-agnostic portfolio of the world's best DAC technologies). Canada provides strategic advantages including 13 billion kWh of excess hydro and nuclear electricity, 398 billion tons of carbon storage potential across basalt rock formations and saline aquifers, and catalytic government policies. Notable customers include Microsoft (the world's largest CDR buyer) and RBC (Canada's largest bank). Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Montreal, Canada, Deep Sky has raised approximately $64.8 million in a Series A round and secured a $40 million grant from Breakthrough Energy Catalyst, backed by Brightspark Ventures, Invest Quebec, Whitecap Venture Partners, OMERS, BDC, Breakthrough Energy, National Bank of Canada, and BMO.
