Distance Technologies develops glasses-free mixed-reality display technology that turns any transparent surface into an intelligent visual interface using computational optics and AI-driven computer vision. The company's Lightfield HUD (heads-up display) technology delivers pixel-perfect depth across the entire field of view without requiring glasses or headsets, embedding visual intelligence seamlessly into reality. Distance serves two primary markets: defense and aerospace, where its technology acts as a front-end for sensor fusion, bringing hyper-spectral, thermal, and battlefield data into a cohesive 3D visual layer embedded into vehicle windshields, helmets, and situational awareness systems; and automotive, where navigation, ADAS, and sensor data are projected into the world in front of the driver rather than floating on glass. The company recently introduced Acuity, a visual intelligence platform for defense powered by Acuity OS that aligns sensors, battle-management systems, machine intelligence, and computational optics into a unified tactical experience. Distance has collaborations with Supacat (aerospace-grade HUD capability across HMT ground vehicle platforms), Galvion (advanced helmet systems), and Kia (first consumer automotive vendor to integrate Distance's panoramic Lightfield HUD). Founded in 2024 and headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, Distance has raised approximately $13.9 million in a Seed round backed by FOV Ventures, Maki, Business Finland, Foobar, and Google Ventures.
