About
Earthodic develops bio-based coating solutions under its Biobarc brand that make paper packaging water-resistant, strong, and recyclable. The company offers three products: Biobarc Aqua, Biobarc Vapor, and Biobarc Black, each tailored to meet different performance requirements for barrier properties. The coatings use bio-based ingredients to achieve key barrier properties, enabling the manufacture of coated paper packaging that can be repulped and recycled, unlike most existing coatings that prevent recycling or are not bio-based. The coatings are designed for easy application using existing manufacturing equipment. Earthodic addresses the problem of packaging waste, which makes up approximately one-third of landfill waste, by creating a circular flow of coated paper materials that reduces carbon emissions through fiber reclamation. Every tonne of cardboard recycled using Biobarc coatings captures carbon dioxide equivalent to 3.7 acres of forest. Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Brisbane, Australia with US operations in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the company has raised $7.9M in seed funding from investors including Tenacious Ventures, Investible, Twynam, Closed Loop Partners, FTW Ventures, Circulate Capital, QIC, UniQuest, Significant, Branch Venture Group, Redstick Ventures, and Plug and Play Tech Center.
