About
Electrified Thermal Solutions develops the Joule Hive thermal battery, a novel electric heating and energy storage system that converts off-peak electricity into 1,800-degree-Celsius industrial heat stored in electrically-conductive E-bricks. The technology operates at over 98% round-trip efficiency, scales from 1 to 200 MW, and integrates with industrial power systems from 480V to 100kV. During discharge, air or process gas flows through brick channels to deliver continuous hot gas to furnaces, boilers, kilns, or turbines 24/7. The first commercial-scale Joule Hive unit was commissioned in San Antonio, Texas in February 2026, delivering 20 MWh of usable thermal storage at 1,600 degrees Celsius. The technology targets cement, steel, chemicals, and glass industries, addressing the 25% of global CO2 emissions that come from industrial heat. Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Medford, Massachusetts, Electrified Thermal has raised $23.5M in Series B funding from investors including Clean Energy Ventures, Starlight Ventures, Grantham Foundation, Holcim, Vale, TechEnergy Ventures, and ArcelorMittal.
