About

Espresso Systems develops a high-performance blockchain infrastructure designed for custom chains and financial systems that demand speed, connectivity, and full architectural control. The platform enables organizations to issue, manage, trade, and transfer digital assets on their own infrastructure with real-time finality, native interoperability, and the ability to scale to millions of transactions per second. Espresso offers a third path between public blockchains (which offer connectivity but not control) and private systems (which offer control but not connectivity) by providing dedicated chain infrastructure with ownership preserved and market connectivity intact. The platform supports shared sequencing, cross-chain composability, faster bridging, and synchronous composability, with Mainnet 1.0 now live. The team includes cryptographers from Stanford PhD programs, computer science professors at Yale and NYU, and operators from Goldman Sachs and Vanguard. Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Stanford, California, Espresso Systems has raised $60 million in Series B funding from investors including a16zcrypto, Sequoia Capital, Greylock Partners, Electric Capital, Polygon, StarkWare, Offchain Labs, Blockchain Capital, Polychain, Coinbase, and Gemini.
