Flow Neuroscience develops a wearable transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) headset for medication-free depression treatment at home. The device delivers gentle electrical stimulation to the prefrontal cortex, the brain region that regulates mood, reversing the activity imbalance observed in people with depression. Backed by over 25 years of tDCS research, Flow has been used by the UK's NHS across 14 services, with approximately 80% of crisis service patients reporting decreased depressive symptoms. The company's largest study, published in Nature Medicine, shows 57% of users no longer had depression at 10 weeks, with 77% reporting no side effects. The platform includes a companion mobile app offering therapy sessions, meditation, and mindfulness programs. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Malmo, Sweden, Flow has raised $11.9M in Series A funding from investors including Khosla Ventures, SOSV, HAX, Zuhlke, Global Brain, and Redstone.
