About

Foundation Alloy is an advanced materials company that designs and produces engineering alloys with properties beyond the reach of conventional metallurgy. Using its proprietary MetalsFIRST solid-state manufacturing process, the company builds compositions and microstructures that melt-based processing cannot achieve, as the metal never melts during production. Foundation Alloy's molybdenum alloys feature grain structures roughly 100 times finer than conventionally processed material, delivering as-sintered strength, room-temperature ductility, and thermal stability without post-processing. The product lineup includes MC700 isotropic molybdenum (600-760 MPa yield strength, 35-42% elongation), MC1200 the strongest commercially available molybdenum alloy (950-1250 MPa yield strength, 97% hardness retention at 1000 degrees Celsius), and upcoming specialty steels and nickel superalloys. The company serves automotive, defense, consumer, energy, semiconductor, and aerospace markets with products made in the United States. Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Foundation Alloy has raised $46.4M in Series A funding from investors including Safar Partners, Material Impact, Engine Ventures, Alumni Ventures, Yamaha Motor Ventures, Trust Ventures, and Kanematsu.
