About

Iontra is a battery technology company that has developed patented Charge Control technology which improves lithium-ion battery performance by 2 to 4 times without requiring cell redesign. The technology uses advanced signal processing and innovative charging algorithms to prevent fundamental cell damage mechanisms during charging, including lithium plating, dendrite growth, and SEI growth on the anode. This enables longer cycle life (up to 4x), faster charging (up to 2x), safer batteries, and improved cold-weather charging at or below 0 degrees Celsius, proven on packs at -20 degrees Celsius. Iontra’s technology is battery chemistry agnostic and works with next-generation chemistries including Li-metal, Li-S, solid-state, and Na-ion. The company serves consumer devices (mobile phones, wearables, AR/VR), commercial and industrial applications (power tools, drones, energy storage), and automotive (EVs, e-bikes, residential storage). Iontra’s solutions are validated by UL Solutions, NREL, the University of Michigan, and Novonix. Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Denver, Colorado, the company has raised approximately $138.2 million in Series C funding. Investors include Volta, Riverstone Holdings, ARPA-E, and the National Science Foundation.
