Ixana

Ixana is a semiconductor and wireless connectivity company that develops E-field wireless technology (Wi-R) for low-power wearables, AR/VR, and physical AI applications. The company Wi-R technology uses confined electric-field coupling instead of radiative RF, keeping link energy local to achieve 50x lower energy per bit, sub-1ms latency, and 1mW consumption at 5 Mbit/s. Ixana shipping silicon includes the YR23XR for wearable body area networks (Wi-R BAN) enabling continuous sensor streams to a nearby compute hub, and the XA-NFE2001 for close-range near-field energy links (Wi-R NFE) replacing cables and ports in industrial and robotics applications. The technology enables applications including all-day AR glasses video streaming, instant local data transfer between devices, slip-ring replacement for robotic joints, and cable-free radio accessories. Founded in 2020 and headquartered in West Lafayette, Indiana, Ixana has raised $3 million in seed funding from investors including Uncorrelated Ventures, Samsung NEXT, EvoNexus, Hack VC, and Purdue Ventures.
