Kytopen develops non-viral gene delivery systems that accelerate the discovery and manufacturing of cell and gene therapies. The company's proprietary Flowfect technology combines continuous fluid flow with electric fields to deliver payloads such as mRNA, DNA, and CRISPR Cas9 RNP to billions of cells in minutes, enabling high-efficiency cell engineering. Kytopen offers two platforms: Flowfect Discover, an automated high-throughput liquid-handling platform capable of running up to 96 transfection conditions in approximately 10 minutes for drug discovery and process optimization, and Flowfect TX, a closed-system instrument for large-scale payload delivery to billions of cells with predictive scaling from small-volume experiments to manufacturing. The technology eliminates the gene delivery bottleneck at the discovery stage, reducing costs and time to scale. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Kytopen has raised $44.5M in Series B funding from investors including Horizons Ventures, Engine Ventures, Northpond Ventures, MassVentures, and Telegraph Hill Partners.
