About

LeydenJar Technologies develops pure silicon anode technology under the brand name Silyte, enabling lithium-ion batteries with significantly higher energy density, faster charging, and reduced environmental impact. The company's anodes deliver 50% more energy capacity, are 10x thinner than conventional anodes, support quick charging to 80% in 7 minutes, achieve 450+ charge cycles, and reduce CO2 emissions by 85% compared to traditional anode production. The technology achieves a density benchmark of 1,350 Wh/L through two key structural innovations: a porous morphology that mitigates silicon swelling behavior (a common failure mode in silicon anodes), and a columnar structure that remains mechanically stable when lithiated. Silyte anodes are applied across three product categories: wearables (enabling thin and flexible devices designed around the user rather than the battery), phones and tablets (freeing space for innovation with pure silicon anodes), and e-mobility (driving electric mobility innovations). The company operates from two locations in the Netherlands—a production facility in Eindhoven and a battery lab in Leiden—with 90 employees representing 21 nationalities. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Oegstgeest, Netherlands, LeydenJar has raised approximately $52.2 million in a Series A round backed by DOEN Foundation, Somerset Capital Partners, Invest-NL, YARD ENERGY, Catalus Capital, BOM, Europa, UNIIQ, Energy Professionals, and European Investment Fund.
