memQ is a quantum technology company that develops chip-based hardware and network architecture for quantum information storage, processing, and connectivity. The company is building the industry's first extensible quantum network architecture, enabling the connection of different types of qubits across multiple quantum processing systems to solve complex computational problems. memQ's technology stack includes four core components: xDQC for assigning workload tasks across the network; QNIC for entangling matter qubits with light to enable connectivity over various distances; Quantum Memory modules providing stability, control, and enhanced entanglement link fidelity through massive multiplexing; and Quantum Control for switching, routing, modulation, and control of quantum channels that scale with the number of nodes and qubits. The architecture features Network Interface Control for extracting qubits from QPUs as photons, Memory Modules for holding and acting upon qubits in memory state, and Network Control for addressing atoms through laser modulation. memQ's approach delivers scale through modular qubit density, resilience through entangled states across distance for fault-tolerance, and compatibility across QPU modalities and locations. The team brings expertise in quantum science and engineering, advanced materials science, integrated photonics chip production, and high-performance computing. DARPA has selected memQ to develop a hardware and network-aware quantum compiler for quantum computing at scale. Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, memQ has raised $12.5M in Series A funding from investors including Quantonation, Exposition Ventures, Hyde Park Venture Partners, Georgeschultzinnovationfund, Duality, Ocean Azul Partners, Bluesky Capital, Qbeat, GrayArch Partners, Illinois Growth and Innovation Fund, Skydeck Capital, Transpose Platform, and Yaletown.
