About
Nanochon is a developer of 3D-printed orthopedic implants designed to repair cartilage naturally for pre-replacement patients with focal cartilage defects who need more than temporary relief but are not yet candidates for joint replacement. The company flagship product, Chondrograft, is an off-the-shelf implant designed to fit securely into damaged knee areas using a simple press-fit procedure during minimally invasive surgery. Once in place, Chondrograft draws in blood and active cells from the bone underneath, supporting the body natural healing processes to generate new tissue growth. The implant functions as both an orthopedic load-bearing implant and a tissue growth scaffold, using 3D printing technology and biomaterials. Nanochon aims to improve orthopedic outcomes by reducing pain and mobility limitations from cartilage degeneration, helping patients return to pre-injury athletic form and stay active longer in life. The technology has been demonstrated in animal models, with clinical research studies being conducted in Ontario, Canada. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Burke, United States, Nanochon has raised approximately 1.3 million at the Seed stage with investors including the University of Virginia, BICO, cultivate(MD), Alumni Ventures, Mountain State Capital, National Science Foundation, and Asimov Ventures.
