About

Neara develops a physics-enabled digital twin platform for utility network management that creates a spatially precise, behaviorally accurate model of entire electrical networks, enriched with loads, clearances, weather exposure, and failure likelihood. The platform replaces fragmented point solutions with a single physics-accurate model, allowing utilities to see every asset, clearance, and piece of vegetation in one place and continuously understand how the network will respond as conditions change. Neara operates through a three-step process: modeling the network with a behaviorally identical digital model, running network-wide simulations to understand how assets respond to severe weather, flooding, wildfire, and growth before events occur, and generating regulator-ready reports that quantify network needs and outcomes. The platform powers six solution areas: Resiliency and Reliability for identifying high-risk assets and predicting failure likelihood to reduce SAIDI/SAIFI; Wildfire Mitigation for modeling conductor clearances, ignition risk, and vegetation encroachment; Severe Weather Response for simulating storm, flood, and extreme wind scenarios; Asset Management for risk-driven inspection and replacement programs; Risk and Value Optimization for quantifying risk and business value of capital decisions; and Design and Construction for modeling new builds and reconductoring before construction begins. Customer results include Essential Energy discovering capacity was twice as high as previously thought, SA Power Networks restoring power within five days instead of three weeks after flooding, a US utility proving 84% of condemned poles were structurally stable and reducing 25,000 planned replacements to 4,000, and Empact Engineering conducting per-pole loading analysis 3x faster. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Sydney, Australia, Neara has raised approximately $125.7 million in Series D funding from investors including TCV, Partners Group, Prosus, EQT, Skip Capital, Square Peg Ventures, and OIF Ventures. The company employs approximately 232 people.
