About
Peak Energy designs and deploys next-generation sodium-ion battery systems for grid-scale renewable energy storage, delivering the world first fully passive grid-scale energy storage system engineered to outlast its 20-year warranty without scheduled maintenance. The system is drop-in compatible with existing battery energy storage systems (BESS), using the same install crews and EMS integration with no new operational requirements. Passive thermal management removes the components behind most BESS failures, unlocking higher uptime, lower opex, and safer deployment near load centers. Peak Energy serves AI data centers, where it collapses multi-year interconnect queues by providing compute-ready power, and utilities and IPPs seeking the lowest total cost of ownership at $75/kWh savings. The company has grid operating deployments since August 2025 in Watkins, Colorado, with over 6 GWh contracted through 2030 representing $1.1 billion in contracted revenue. Peak has partnered with GM and nine of the largest IPPs and utilities in the United States, and is building America first sodium-ion grid storage factory in Sacramento with Q1 2027 start of production. Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Denver, Colorado, Peak Energy has raised $65 million in Series A funding from investors including TDK Ventures, Eclipse, Xora Innovation, Tishman Speyer, and TechEnergy Ventures.
