PierSight

PierSight is a space technology company building a constellation of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and AIS satellites to provide persistent maritime surveillance and ocean monitoring. The company’s SAR technology enables all-weather imaging through cloud cover and darkness, achieving 100% ocean coverage with 30-minute revisit times and low-latency data processing. By fusing SAR and AIS data on a single platform, PierSight delivers actionable maritime intelligence at one-sixth the cost of existing solutions. Use cases include shipping operations for real-time fleet monitoring, risk assessment for insurance companies, Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) monitoring, oil spill detection, and detection of illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, which causes $24 billion in annual losses. The company won dual victories at the DIU-IDEX Maritime Challenge (INDUS-X) for oil spill detection in both the U.S. and India. PierSight launched its Varuna mission for ocean surveillance operations and offers early access to its data solutions. Founded in 2023 by ISRO alumni and headquartered in Ahmedabad, India, the company has raised $8 million in Seed funding. Investors include Alpha Wave Global, Elevation Capital, Techstars, All In Capital, Sustainable Ocean Alliance (Seabird Ventures), and CE Ventures.
