About

Promethean Particles manufactures metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) at industrial scale using its proprietary and patented continuous-flow manufacturing process, enabling the production of high-quality, cost-effective MOFs for applications including carbon capture, biogas upgrading, atmospheric water harvesting, and gas storage and separation. The company operates the world's largest continuous-flow MOF manufacturing plant, overcoming the historical limitations that kept MOFs confined to laboratory settings due to lack of manufacturing scale, inconsistent quality, and prohibitive costs. The continuous-flow process eliminates inefficiencies of traditional batch MOF manufacturing, delivering particle size and morphology control while significantly reducing costs to make MOFs industrially viable for the first time. For carbon capture, MOF-based technology is more energy efficient and requires a smaller footprint than traditional methods. In biogas upgrading, MOFs deliver a more energy-efficient approach to biomethane production. For atmospheric water harvesting, MOFs enable collection of drinking water in places and climatic conditions previously not possible. The company offers MOF scale-up services to help clients determine technical feasibility and economic viability of their MOF structures, with a team of research chemists and process engineers providing deep expertise in assessing synthesis potential both in laboratory and industrial settings. Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Nottingham, United Kingdom, Promethean Particles has raised approximately $13.5 million at the Series A stage from investors including EIC Fund, Europa, E-Synergy, Midlands Engine Investment Fund, The University of Nottingham, Foresight Group, TSP Ventures, British Business Bank, Mercia, Aramco Ventures, Lachesis Fund, Ecrin Investments, Nottingham Technology Ventures, Langley, and Braveheart Investment.
