About

QurAlis is a biotechnology company discovering and developing precision therapies for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal dementia (FTD), and other neurodegenerative and neurological diseases. The company was founded on the breakthrough identification of TDP-43 pathology as a major disease driver in sporadic ALS, the most common form of motor neuron disease. QurAlis is advancing a pipeline of therapeutic candidates that target specific components of ALS pathology, with defined patient populations selected based on disease-causing genetic mutations and clinical biomarkers. The company lead candidates include QRL-201, a first-in-class precision medicine currently in the ANQUR clinical trial that has demonstrated effects on disease progression and target engagement in sporadic ALS, and QRL-101, a potentially best-in-class selective Kv7.2/7.3 ion channel opener that has confirmed target engagement signals in Phase 1 clinical trials. QurAlis leverages its proprietary FlexASO platform, an anti-sense oligonucleotide splice modulator technology that enables bespoke therapeutic approaches across the spectrum of neurodegenerative diseases. The company also developed Optopatch technology for stimulating neurons and recording their electrical behavior, and utilizes transcranial magnetic stimulation and biomarker identification for ALS diagnosis. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, QurAlis has raised approximately $155.5 million in Series B funding from investors including Polaris Partners, Amgen, Sanofi Ventures, EQT, Inkef, SV Health Investors, Droia Ventures, Mission BioCapital, Mitsui Global Investment, and Life Sciences Partners.
