About

Raydiant Oximetry is a clinical-stage medical device company developing Lumerah, a noninvasive fetal pulse oximeter that directly measures fetal oxygen levels during labor and delivery. Using advanced biophotonics and machine learning, Lumerah aims to reduce the rising maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity rates by providing obstetrical providers with a more reliable tool to evaluate fetal oxygenation than traditional electronic fetal monitoring, which has been associated with a sixfold increase in cesarean delivery without reducing neurologic injury rates. The device has received FDA Breakthrough Device status to fast-track market approval, with preclinical trials showing significantly improved sensitivity and specificity in detecting fetal distress. The company has completed a 35-patient Early Feasibility Study at Eastern Virginia Medical School and initiated an IDE Pilot Study at LSU Health Shreveport, alongside a joint development initiative with GE HealthCare. Founded in 2015 and headquartered in San Ramon, California, the company has raised approximately $25.7M in Series A funding with backing from Avestria Ventures, March of Dimes, and a $1M grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Fetal pulse oximetry has been shown to reduce C-section rates for suspected fetal distress by 50%.
