About

Remora Robotics develops autonomous submarine robots designed specifically for the aquaculture industry, cleaning and inspecting fish farming pens while collecting environmental data about the pen's aquatic ecosystem. The Remora robot performs daily autonomous cleaning of aquaculture nets to prevent biofouling—a severe issue that harms fish health and causes equipment failure—replacing costly, inefficient, and environmentally harmful antifouling methods. By maintaining clean nets, the robot increases water flow and oxygen content in the pen, reduces pollution and infection pressure, minimizes the need for chemical treatments, and contributes to lower fish mortality and improved fish welfare. During its cleaning operations, Remora also scans the entire net and collects essential data from all depths using advanced environmental monitoring sensors, providing detailed insights into water conditions and trends over time for preventative maintenance and optimized operations. The company also offers Remora Insight, a cloud-based platform combining continuous hole detection with real-time monitoring and documentation of net conditions. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Stavanger, Norway, Remora Robotics has raised approximately $26.6 million in a Series A round backed by Froy Kapital, Grieg Kapital, Momentum Partners, Singularity Games, Hatch Blue, Artec Holding, and Nordic Secondary Fund.
