Sepion Technologies develops advanced polymer materials that control molecular transport for faster, safer, and longer-lasting lithium-ion batteries. The company designs separator coatings at the nanoscale that define how ions move, how metals cause problems, how stability is maintained, and how performance scales. Its two commercial product lines are Sepion Power, a high-performance separator maximizing charging speed, energy density, and efficiency for mobility and consumer electronics applications; and Sepion Shield, a durability-focused separator enhancing safety, extending cycle life, and stabilizing costs for energy storage and AI infrastructure. The technology is a direct replacement for ceramic-coated separators with no retooling needed, is drop-in compatible with all Li-ion chemistries, and is already in commercial production with a global toll manufacturing network. The Sepion Frontier program extends the platform to water purification, industrial gas separations, and critical metal production. With over 20 patent families, the company addresses a $15 billion market. Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Emeryville, California, Sepion has raised approximately $28.7 million in Series B funding from investors including W.L. Gore & Associates, Solvay, Dolby Family Ventures, 11.2 Capital, VoLo Earth Ventures, and Fine Structure Ventures.
