About
Summer Robotics develops AI-enabled visual perception technology for industrial robots, providing superhuman vision capabilities through its proprietary laser-event sensing technology that achieves 5X to 10X faster reaction times than competitive camera-based perception solutions. Unlike traditional camera systems, the company has built a completely new perception system inspired by animal perception, which enables faster reaction times without requiring faster cameras. The platform delivers four core capabilities: Recognize, enabling robots to identify parts of all shapes, sizes, and materials under any lighting and motion conditions; Track, eliminating the need for jigs and fixtures by tracking moving parts without motion blur; Measure, scanning and measuring 3D surfaces and features with 100 micron precision; and Control, allowing robots to adapt toolpaths in real-time without reprogramming. The technology addresses critical manufacturing challenges including dynamic toolpath updates for parts with wide tolerances, collision avoidance during emergency stops, real-time part position guidance when parts shift during assembly, and multi-SKU production on the same assembly line working with metal, glossy painted, and transparent parts. Summer Robotics serves the automotive industry and other sectors requiring high-speed robotic operations. Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Campbell, United States, Summer Robotics has raised approximately $6.2 million at the Series A stage from investors including Applied Materials, Solasta Ventures, Naver, Aju IB Investment, and Seabed VC.
