Tiamat

Tiamat is a battery technology company that designs, develops, industrializes, and sells sodium-ion battery cells for power and high-power applications. A CNRS spin-off based on nearly 10 years of academic research, Tiamat manufactures rechargeable sodium-ion batteries that offer high power density, long lifetime, extreme safety, and fast charging capabilities. The company batteries achieve up to 4000 lifecycles and charge 10 times faster than existing batteries, making them suitable for electric scooters, power walls, hybrid vehicles, fast-charge hydrogen buses, aircraft auxiliary power systems, power tools, and UPS systems for data centers and telecom. Tiamat sodium-ion technology does not depend on lithium or nickel, reducing geostrategic supply chain risks. The company is planning a gigafactory in Amiens, France, with 5 GWh production capacity planned for end of 2030. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Amiens, France, Tiamat has raised approximately $34.2 million in Series B funding from investors including EIC Fund, Bpifrance, Arkema, Stellantis Ventures, MBDA, and CNRS Innovation.
