The Open Network (TON) Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports community initiatives for The Open Network, a decentralized blockchain ecosystem designed to put cryptocurrency in every pocket through integration with Telegram Messenger. By building a Web3 ecosystem within Telegram, TON aims to give billions of users the opportunity to own their digital identity, data, and assets through self-sovereignty at scale. Established in Switzerland in 2023, the foundation is funded entirely by community contributions and acts in the interests of the community by supporting initiatives that help achieve TON's mission. The foundation empowers TON projects through coordination, support, and grants without controlling TON technology, serving as one of many network contributors in the decentralized TON community. TON operates on an open-source codebase allowing contributions from anyone, with no single controlling authority. The foundation's grants program extends assistance to projects identified, demanded, and valued by the wider TON community. The Foundation Council, led by President Max Crown, includes community contributors with diverse expertise who actively shape platform development and drive growth. Headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, TON has raised $10.0M in Series A funding from investors including KuCoin, DWF Labs, MEXC Global, Animoca Brands, Mask Network, Plutus Capital, Kosmos Ventures, X Capital Ventures, and Double Peak.
