About
Vaarst was a provider of AI-based robotic analysis solutions for the marine and subsea industry, offering a cloud-based platform that used computer vision technology to capture 3D point clouds and provide storage, management, and analysis of subsea data. Its features included 3D live streaming and geo-referencing capabilities for underwater inspection and survey operations. In 2024, Vaarst merged with Rovco to form Beam, a subsea robotics and engineering firm that gained rapid recognition for its autonomous subsea systems and AI-powered technologies. Beam operated from Bristol and Aberdeen, serving the offshore energy and critical infrastructure sectors with autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), subsea inspection services, and AI-driven data analytics. However, Beam ceased operations in May 2025, and in July 2025, Rosenxt UK Ltd., part of Switzerland-based Rosenxt Holding AG, acquired selected assets and talent from Beam to expand its offshore and subsea capabilities. Rosenxt integrated Beam's key technical assets and expert talent into its broader subsea strategy, with a focus on growth in Aberdeen and Bristol. The acquisition represented a consolidation of high-value competencies in next-generation subsea technologies rather than a continuation of all former Beam operations. Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Bristol, United Kingdom, Vaarst had raised $26.0M in Series B funding from investors including Legal & General, Equinor, In-Q-Tel, Martlet Capital, Foresight Group, SDF, and Future Planet Capital.
