Vaxxas commercializes a novel needle-free vaccine delivery technology using its proprietary HD-MAP (High-Density Microprojection Array Patch) platform. The technology consists of a patch containing thousands of vaccine-coated microprojections that is applied to the skin for seconds via an applicator device, efficiently delivering vaccine to the abundant immune cells immediately below the skin surface. This approach enhances vaccine performance by targeting the skin's immune-rich layers, potentially reducing required vaccine doses while improving immune response. The HD-MAP platform has been productized for commercial use, validated in human clinical studies, and designed for manufacture at scale. Vaxxas is developing applications across influenza, COVID-19, and other vaccine categories, and was recently selected by the European Union as part of a global consortium to develop next-generation influenza vaccines. The company differentiates itself through its proven clinical validation, scalable manufacturing design, and ability to enhance both existing and next-generation vaccines without needles or cold chain requirements in certain formulations. Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Brisbane, Australia, Vaxxas has raised approximately $91.2 million through a Series D round, with backing from investors including HHS, One Ventures, the Medical Research Commercialisation Fund, Healthcare Ventures, Brisbane Angels, Brandon BioCatalyst, the Gates Foundation, and the Government of Australia.
