Vaya Space

Vaya Space is a defense and aerospace company that develops hybrid rocket propulsion systems for defense and space applications. Its patented Vortex-Hybrid engine technology uses 3D-printed HDPE fuel grains (derived from recycled plastic) and liquid oxidizers to provide throttling from 0-100%, demonstrated restart capability across 11 tests, and a 35% range increase over current long-range missile systems. Unlike traditional solid rocket motors that cannot throttle or restart and detonate on impact, Vaya's non-explosive fuel grains burn rather than detonate, improving safety for troops who store, transport, and fire them. The company manufactures everything in-house at its Cocoa, Florida facility using 3D-printed and metal additive manufacturing, CNC machining, and on-site test infrastructure, with zero single-source or overseas dependencies. Vaya serves three mission areas: defense propulsion (missile engines and hypersonic ramjet propulsion), the Dauntless launch vehicle designed for small-sat launch from Cape Canaveral LC-13 carrying 1,000-2,000 kg to LEO, and in-space propulsion for orbital maneuvering. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Cocoa, Florida, the company has raised approximately $17.9 million in Series B funding and has active programs under the US Army, US Air Force, and DARPA.
