Clinical trial results published in Clinical Chemistry demonstrate a 94.5% first-stick success rate, confirming safety and efficacy. Aletta has received CE marking under European MDR requirements, making it approved for commercial clinical use in the European Union, though it is not yet FDA-approved for use in the United States. Vitestro addresses critical healthcare challenges including phlebotomy staffing shortages, preanalytical errors that impact laboratory quality, and the lack of standardization in manual blood collection. The device helps hospitals and laboratories improve sample standardization, reduce variability in the preanalytical phase, and alleviate pressure on phlebotomy services. Vitestro has secured early customers including OLVG Laboratories in the Netherlands and Odense University Hospital in Denmark, which ordered three devices marking the first international deployment. The company has also announced a multi-year collaboration with Northwestern Medicine in the US. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Utrecht, Netherlands, Vitestro has raised approximately $120 million in Series B funding from investors including Sonder Capital, EIC Fund, Invest-NL, NYBC Ventures, Intervest, PGGM, ROM Utrecht Region, LabCorp, Mayo Clinic, Sutter Health, and Lifeblood. The company employs approximately 132 people.
