Witnet is a decentralized oracle network that connects smart contracts to online data sources such as stock prices, weather forecasts, and other blockchain data. Witnesses are rewarded with WIT tokens for retrieving, attesting, and delivering web content for clients, while clients use WIT tokens to pay witnesses for their Retrieve-Attest-Deliver (RAD) work. This RAD protocol ensures that data fed to smart contracts is accurate and tamper-resistant by distributing the data retrieval process across multiple independent nodes that reach consensus on the correct answer.
