About
Wyvern is a space technology company that operates the world's first commercial hyperspectral satellite constellation, providing high-resolution hyperspectral imagery and earth observation data for industries including agriculture, peace and security, forestry and ESG, energy, and mining. Launched in 2023, Wyvern's constellation of five satellites delivers industry-leading 5.3-meter ground sampling distance at nadir with 31-band VNIR imagery, research-grade calibration and atmospheric correction, frequent revisit times with global coverage, and flexible tasking capabilities. The company's hyperspectral imaging identifies materials and detects subtle environmental shifts with high accuracy, enabling applications such as crop classification and disease detection, yield forecasting, forest health monitoring and species mapping, energy infrastructure analysis, mining exploration and rehabilitation, and maritime domain awareness including dark fleet detection. Wyvern offers imagery through its growing archive, flexible tasking, and an open data program that provides free hyperspectral imagery for experimentation. The company has been selected for a NASA satellite data program and has partnered with Nara Space to expand access across Asia. Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Edmonton, Canada, Wyvern has raised approximately $18 million in seed funding from investors including TRAC, Uncork Capital, MaC Venture Capital, Y Combinator, Soma Capital, Liquid 2 Ventures, Gaingels, Squadra Ventures, and the University of Alberta, with a team of 58 employees.
