About

SynSense develops neuromorphic computing chips and bio-inspired vision sensors that deliver ultra-low-power, ultra-low-latency artificial intelligence processing for edge computing applications. Founded by Dr. Ning Qiao of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor Giacomo Indiveri of the Institute of Neuroinformatics (INI), SynSense builds on two decades of pioneering Swiss academic research in neuromorphic engineering. The company follows a dual-path approach: optimizing human-world interactions through human-computer interaction (HCI) technologies and pioneering human-machine integration via brain-computer interface (BCI) technologies, both unified by sensing-computing integration and ultra-low power consumption inspired by neural processing. SynSense's product portfolio includes brain-computer interface chips (Xylo and Rigi Series), human-computer interaction chips (Speck, AEVEON, and DVS Series), and software tools (Rockpool, Sinabs, and SAMNA). The technology achieves 10-100x faster real-time processing, 100-1000x power consumption savings, and compact lightweight design compared to conventional AI processors. Through its subsidiary iniVation, SynSense also delivers frame-based and bio-inspired vision systems with ultra-low latency, extreme dynamic range, and ultra-low power consumption. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Chengdu, China, the company has raised approximately $12.7 million at the Series A stage from investors including Baidu Ventures, TE Connectivity, M Ventures, ECOVACS Robotics, and Ausvic Capital.
